Paolo Venini

Italian, 1895-1959

Venini is a name synonymous with great design and excellence in shaping glass. The factory's collaboration with many major artists, including Carlo Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass, Gio Ponti and Fulvio Bianconi created some of the most important pieces of the 20th-century’s glass design. Throughout the decades this factory on the island of Murano has promoted innovative designs, which were created using traditional techniques. This philosophy reverberates deeply with the company's founder Paolo Venini. It continues to be at the forefront of modern design today.

Venini was a pioneer in introducing the mid-century modern style, since the 1950’s. Its new designs won it awards and accolades at the 1951 Triennale Design Fair in Milan.
